Topic: Cindy Morton will be speaking about the Des Moines Emergency Food Pantry, which the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) began in 1976 and continues to operate today. Currently, DMARC partners with nine food pantry sites around the city to provide food for those in need. Donations of cash and food items will be collected at the meeting. If you are unsure of what type of food items to donate, please visit the Most Needed Items list. A social hour will follow the speaker, with hors d’oeuvres, beer, and wine.
Speaker Bio: Cindy Morton is originally from Cedar Rapids and has been a resident of Des Moines for 34 years. She earned a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Mount Mercy College and served in state government for 35 years, 24 of which were with the Department of Revenue as Administrator of the Internal Services Division, overseeing budget and accounting, human resources, training, facilities management, strategic planning, performance measurement and working as a liaison for enterprise initiatives. Cindy retired from the state in 2008 and then began employment with DMARC as the Red Barrel Coordinator.
