Kathy Karpowicz is a graduate of the University of Iowa, College of Nursing. After working for more than 16 years in adult critical care, Kathy went on to receive her Masters of Arts in Religion, with a focus in Bioethics from the University of Iowa. Kathy has worked as the Director of Ethics, Palliative Care, and Human Research Protection for UnityPoint Health Des Moines since 1999. Kathy has taught bioethics as adjunct faculty at both University of Iowa College of Medicine and Grandview College. She has given numerous presentations on topics including ethical issues in medicine and healthcare, end-of-life decision making, research ethics, and palliative care.
